Yes they do, but with a broker you have an option with quick pay, direct you do not. Factoring does as well, and they change a percentage.

Brokers charge a percentage for quickpay too. The smaller brokers use the same factor companies carriers use.

    Rideandrepair and Brettj3876 Thank this.

Yes they do. Any time you want quick pay, they will take a percentage. If you have enough working capital you can wait for the full rate

I don't doubt owner operators out there do business without a factor company but I doubt they run spot.

I don't. I do spot, only it something cancels, or gets unexpectedly slow. But I have been working with the same people for years

Exactly. If I work the same freight most of the time, I'd just wait 30 for my pay but I like spot and I do not see a situation where a one pony show can do spot and wait for pay unless they have a wife on top of it and even then..... factor companies come in handy

    Rideandrepair and Wespipes Thank this.

Ya the brokerage will be completely separate from the trucking company. Different dot and mc #'s. Theres also factorimg companies for brokers just like in trucking

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I'm running spot and use apex as a factoring company.

I think I explained it wrong in my original post? Idk. Im not adding a brokerage to my existing dot #'s. I created a whole new LLC. A different EIN and am starting a brokerage.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I understand what you're saying. There are some brokers who are trustworthy and have been in business for a very long time. If you're constantly doing spot with many different brokers I agree with you, I would probably take quick pay. One of the issues with trucking that I learned a long time ago there's you are only good at your last load in this business. There is always somebody cheaper that it's willing to haul the same load. That's why you never discussed business with anyone. Even your closest trucker friends. It's nothing personal it's just business. Takes a long time to build-up a relationship with direct customers, and brokers that have good rates
