Seems like anyone wanting Direct Customers, has a better chance of getting them, if they have a Brokerage, being able to cover more loads. For the most part, the loads aren’t always the same schedule or volume. No need to commit to any set amount. Load lists go out to multiple approved Brokers, and Carriers, all up for grabs, and constantly changing. It’s all about Competition, the goal for the Shipper is getting the best service at the best rate.

You want direct customers, learn how to sell the company, not an MT truck.

I have no belief itll be easy or that it'll even work. But im just staying afloat working off the spot market. And I'm not in this to stay afloat. So I'm going to try.Deere hunter, Long FLD and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

One thing to remember...other people will be chasing the same customers that you're looking for.
Getting a direct customer isn't hard. Keeping a direct customer can be the difficult part. Surprisingly, sometimes rate doesn't matter as much as level of service. The customer wants to put the load on you and never have to worry about it getting there.
Also, a direct customer that doesn't pay on time or doesn't pay at all can sink you.Deere hunter and Wespipes Thank this. -
keep in mind that a one truck company is all a lot of shippers need, and is not worth messing with for most brokers. Plus, they’ll ask YOU what it costs, rather than telling you what you’ll take.
for a small carrier, a direct shipper has a different profile than for a broker.
the jackpot comes when you can piece two or more small shippers together with partial loads and give them a discount on a full load price. More revenue and more loyalty.REO6205, Ruthless and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
I found a new shipper recently that was extremely happy that we reached out. Said that they rarely get anyone to notice them. That was coool.
Hadn’t done a first load yet but we’re going to be the first call now. Semi score.Deere hunter, 86scotty, Ruthless and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sounds like you really thought this through. You can’t sell your service so just get your wife with 0 experience to get freight you can’t .Why don’t you just start up your own insurance company to think about how much you could save on your insurance cost. And while your at it start up your own repair shop.and warehouses you could make a killing.Deere hunter, Gsm and Ruthless Thank this.

Same here lol.
when i bought my truck, i took myself down to my last dime. My company job paid out your unused vacation when you quit as long as you gave a two week notice & worked the full two weeks. I did & that 4 weeks worth of unused vacation was my operating expenses for my 1st two weeks. I never missed a check from company hand to o/o. I leased up with the company i was already working with. Parked their truck on Friday & drove mine to work on Monday. Did that for a while before opening my authority. I have never used a factoring company, haven’t used a broker or signed up for a load board either.PSM379 and feldsforever Thank this. -
Telling you factoring is the easiest money to make. As much as I want a truck. I'm seriously thinking about doing factoring. Covering small bills of laden. Nothing big. I'm not out here to hurt the drivers.
But back on topic. Try east man chemical in martinsville va, they will send u up the ladder till you get to the right name. Usally some one in Tennessee. But for a strict company to work for, thier hauling guildines are the industry's minimum
