I’ve seen them several times at San Onofre scale south bound side only.
I don’t know what the fine would be for desabling your emission system, but I don’t want to be the one to find out.
Also on a new truck it will void your warranty. So don’t think is worth it. Once out of warranty I can understand as most engine problems are emissions related.

Yeah, same thing about the DOT. They never check emmisions DEF/DPF . They mainly check for exhaust leaks ,missing or broken parts on the exhaust. Most people who delete there trucks leave all the outside appearance of it still being there .They gut the DPF can,and bypass the EGR and run a different file on the computer. It usually increases horsepower and gets better
Fuel mileage ,and ends the DPFDEF horror show. The only problem is that when you get on the pedal hard those deleted trucks will blow black smoke.Thats were you can caught by EPA or DOT that does do smoke checks like in NJ.Ive heard all the horror stories about big fines, and I think some shops doing deletes have got caught and fined, but a fair amount of out of warranty 2008 and above trucks on the road have been
Deleted,if they didn't those trucks would bankrupt them with blown engines and break downs .Thats why our current truck is a 2007 ,won't ever go near anything older
unless it's a glider or truck with a 2007 engine or older.Justrucking2 Thanks this. -
I have a larger question. The EPA requires the emission equipment to last through the warranty period and maybe a couple of years/100k miles beyond. Trucks routinely last 20 years these days. There is no requirement for the OEM or anyone else to keep making parts-sensors, screens, pumps, tanks etc to keep these systems bone stock to operate as legally required, and modifying them to accept other parts is illegal.
These systems have gone through several generations of changes just in the 10 years they have been around. You going to scrap a perfectly good truck because you can't get part # 45638909 to keep it legal? -
Thats what my carrier does. The way it was explained to me was that the sensor that detects when the DPF needs a regen has a chip in between the ECM and the sensor so that the ECM thinks the DPF is always clean. The ECM has not been modified so when checked it looks normal.
After 7 months of endless emissions problems and thousands of dollars in diagnostics and "Repairs",.. the fix was the disable everything. 3 yrs later and other than normal wear and tear things,.. the trucks couldnt be more reliable.

I remember when i drove pre emission cars. Then I decided my kids would probably like cleaner air. But then he grew up and joined the marines. Did his training in Cali and Japan.

Meanwhile your kids have no respect for you and right now they are baking in someone's car with the windows up, passing around a bong.
The hypocrisy that comes out of your state. Gotta love it.
You want to praise yourself with accolades?
Here's my story.
I grew up in the ghetto,.. white alcoholic mother with a black step dad. Yeah that went over real well in school. Social services came and I went into foster care. Finally after repeating the 9th grade 3 times,.. I quit school and spent the next 3 yrs job hoping and partying from one friends couch to another. Spent some time in jail for crushing a guys skull with a cinderblock. Let out early because of my age.
Fast forward 30 yrs. I've raised my kids and sent them through college. I own 2 homes and property. I still support a disabled brother who's medical needs that are not covered by the state cost me on average $1200 a month for his nursing care. I am self employed, I own 2 semi trucks, I have 1 employee who's livelihood and family depends on my ability to keep my business profitable and stable.
I came from nothing and you have the nerve to chastise me about whether I drive a pre-emissions vehicle or not? Get a life.

Most of us come from the ghettos. Otherwise we'd be doctors and lawyers. Instead of truckers trying to make a living. Dealing with gooberment BS.
