I happen to live in a town with In & Out, Whataburger and 5 Guys. Any of those three beat McDonalds or Burger King hands down (and I & O is my favorite of the three), but none are what I would call a great burger. For that you have to go to a sit down restaurant and wait a few minutes for it to be prepared right. Heck even Denny's can make a better burger than most fast food places. Personally I don't much like eating burgers that I don't make myself at home. I get ground chuck with just the right amount of fat to make it juicy, and BBQ on mesquite lump charcoal with some apple wood chips thrown in for additional flavor. Cook some thick bacon on the grill with the patties done medium, and you have a perfect burger.

When I really need something in a pinch I generally go for something like KFC. Their $5 fill up you get 2 pieces of chicken, a biscuit, a side like mashed potatoes and gravy, a cookie and a drink. It's the best deal out there, but I can only handle KFC once a month or so.

 

Went to In & Out for the first time in 6 months or so. First time ever I ordered a "DOUBLE" and for the first time ever I had an In & Out burger with flavor. So if you're going to eat there get the double.

 

So sue me, but I'm old, and everything reminds me of a story.

Back in the 1960's My parents went to look at the books of a McDonalds,
to buy into the franchise, and open a new location in Mt. Pocono, Pa.
Closest one was in Kingston, Pa. at the time, so off we went.
This was when it was like an Ice cream shop type affair, with windows
in the front to order/pick up, and no indoor seating.
Golden arches up both sides.
Two hours later, we leave to discuss, long story short,
mother was the business head, she owned and ran a Restaurant before,
but Dad had the last word. His decision:
"People don't want that, they want a home cooked meal."

How wrong can you be.

 

Best deal is KFC $20 fill up
I get 2 good meals out of that. 8 pcs, with 2 large potatoes, 1 large slaw, and several biscuits.

 

But do you get potatoes, cole slaw, and biscuits. And does it taste like KFC?

I’ll let the biscuits slide, if it taste like KFC.
