Just do the math. If you take off 4 days per month for hometime, and 2 more days are also not paid guarantee because the days are partial by being next to your hometime days, one can get about 25 guaranteed pay days per month. 25 x $90 is $2250 per month. If you are getting 35 cents/mile and 10,000 paid miles/mo, that is $3500/mo. Which is better, getting the miles (and ANY company should give you 10,000 mile/mo, even with 4 days hometime!!!) or guaranteed pay?

The nice thing with the guaranteed pay is that if you would've made more being paid mileage, they give you that as a bonus at the end of each quarter.

looks like i will be having about a 2200 paid mile week coming up...I have heard from other May drivers that the company has too many drivers for the freight available; but other companies don't have this problem as far as I can tell; trucking is booming
maybe May has to get more customers, or haul some slightly cheaper freight, before drivers start leaving for greener pastures, ie, a full 10,000 paid miles per month at another company; I do like May, but other nice things won't make up for a small pay check -
Bry, May Trucking's business model is based on turnover.
They, as well as most large carriers, have about 120% turnover ratios per year.Bry Thanks this. -

I love my terminal, the people at Layton are great; but I told my FM a few days ago that I will have to put applications in at other companies if my miles don't pick up and all he said was that I had great miles last year (what does that matter?) and that he understood if I have to leave.
What does Thomas and Sons pay their company drivers? And what kinda miles do they get per month? Thx. -
Do you have a couple of years under your belt?

Scooter Jones Thanks this.
