Sorry to have gotten away from all of your questions.
Yes they can freeze up like drums.
Yes they do auto adjust very similar to the type and style that you have on your car.
They do not have better stopping power.
They do not fade as much as drums, they just wear out quicker.

Before I started this thread, I was assuming that disc brakes on trucks would enjoy the same benefits as they do on cars. Now I'm beginning to question those assumptions. I guess that's why they say you should never assume anything!
Sounds like there needs to be some more engineering advances before discs can claim real advantages over drums. I like the idea that they have less tendency to fade, but it looks like there are other hurdles to be cleared before they can claim to replace drums.
