I haven't gotten the books yet, only because I'm 17 and I've just been taking the practice tests to see how good I can do. And I might be going for my CDL at 18, but thats only if I can find a local company that stays in my state that will hire me, if not I'll have to wait till I'm 21. I've looked at the book online a few months ago, then i noticed the practice tests on here and started seeing how good i could do, and I actually remembered some of the stuff. I don't remember anything about steering axle brakes. I kind of knew it wasn't the answer to the question, I just wanted to know if there was actually a way to disconnect the steering brakes, because it just didn't sound right.

Yeah, you can get the books free at any DMV or whatever your state calls the driver service offices. Best to grab one and start reading because it actually explains the reasons for things. Just taking the tests and remembering the answers doesn't really do you any good in the real world.
