Disk brake rattle. All brakes on truck are disk. Front brakes rattle when driving. If I lightly apply brakes rattle goes away. any help?
If you have chrome plastic or metal hub covers on your wheels that could be the culprit..especially the metal ones. Has driven many a driver insane with the rattling sound they make when they become loose. If you have the covers, take them off and go for a ride.
Were they done recently? I had a shop locally do my front brakes about 6 months ago. They are old school and not familiar with discs. The mechanic forgot to put the retainer plates in the top of the calipers when he dropped the new discs in. Are you set up to pull a wheel yourself? If so I'd pull one and give a visual check. Mine were working fine but it was still pretty scary to find. It was a quick and simple fix. I've had 2 trucks with discs, both Volvos though, and they do not rattle when they are right.
