I know every driver on here would never run OOR/extra miles if they were paid off the hub, but it does happen.
I choose OOR options at times, sometimes 20 extra miles beats the fuel, time, and wear & tear that the shorter route has.
I'm speaking of those that have no problem running the longest way because of more miles. There are those that can't get to any place unless it's on an interstate.
Seriously, had a driver leave upstate NJ to Sacramento, ran south and took the 10 to LA and then up the 5. Long before any type of tracking. And thought there was nothing wrong in doing it.
Lmao thats about 5k miles , yeah ? I remeber i took a load from san diego to new york but had a stop in new orleans. Ended up being just north of 5k miles.
I used to have a cd that I showed HHG routes and miles. One was Ft Worth to Phoenix. Was right at 1040 actual miles from shipper to receiver. HHG took me off of I 20 at the 414 exit in Weatherford. Ran straight across U.S. 180 into New Mexico then jogged over to Las Cruces on a route that you weren't even supposed to run with a 53' trailer. from there I 10 but not for long. Had you exit at the 102 (Akela Flats) and run NM 549 over into and through Demming. Then I 10 to Lordsburg. Then U.S. 70 up through Safford to Globe to pick up U.S. 60 down into Phoenix. HHG miles was 975. Yep, all that to save 75 miles. Another one was from Mobile to Athens, Al. Start a mile 0 on I 65 and exit at the 352 in AThens. Pretty simple right. Nope. HHG paid 325 mile. Hardly even ran the interstate at all until you got up near Birmingham. Crazy.
