Usually it's up to you. I suppose it depends on who you work for.

Dispatch usually has you running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.

You will be a a good area but nearly out of hours. It might be better to take a 34 and wait for a better load, but no. you take a crap load to a crap area for another crap load because you have the hours to do it, or recap hours to do it.

It's usually the "haste makes waste" scenario.

Depends. So your 70 is burned up at the end of the day ..... how many hours do you have coming tomorrow? If 10, then probably no need to consider doing a reset. If only 1 or 2, then a reset may be prudent.

I don’t think my dispatcher can even count to 34.

Call recruiters at your company and ask them how much the top driver made. Everyone in the office knows the top driver. The top driver makes 2X the money of average. The top driver is the guy that manages his time the most efficiently and cannot be FORCED by dispatcher do anything.

Guys, there is no one size fits all way that’s going to work every time to get you the most money. Some times, it will be more advantageous to run the recaps. Some times, it is more advantageous to do a 34. Your money will greatly depend on YOU figuring this part out. If you are one of these people that need their hands held by the office jocks, the best you’re going to do is AVERAGE. If you want to be average, don’t worry about it, just send a message to your travel agent and tell them to hold your hand. Odds are, you will make average or slightly less than average.

    #### that!

    I often tell dispatch I don't need a 34 reset. Why!!!???

Because I have hours coming back.

I frequently run weeks at a time without ever taking a 34. Now is a good example. I have 20 hours left in n my 70, and 4 hours coming back tomorrow at midnight.

Why in the #### would I WANT to take a 34? It makes NO sense. Really me hard. Put me away wet.

They can't force you to do anything. You, and you alone are in control in the truck.
