Which is on them. Not you, not driver extraordinaire, no one but them.
It is their choice if they feel comfortable to roll and no one else's.
All the "Well the other guy did it" "John boy super trucker says you should roll" "Dispatcher dipstick says the customer absolutely has to have that freight"
None of that is relevant in the drivers decision to turn the key in the ignition or not. That is their choice![]()

Typical "Greedy Bastages" in dispatch. No Not Legal, but,You know how that goes.Suddenly youre gettin "Grunt" runs and nitpicked.Suddenly youre "Fired",but honest( it wasnt for not driving on ice,seems...Your truck was over a gallon low on oil! We got a call from an anonymous motorist"said you were "driving reckless".Or the best one: You failed to report for your drug test! What Drug test?Yes,its a cutthroat business.Look what Hillary has gotten away with.!! LOL

Boss didn't threaten them in any manner. And he certainly didn't fire them when they made it back 2 weeks later. But it doesn't look good when 1 out of 4 trucks on.
I've always parked it for ice. But i never sat around because i was too lazy to throw iron. I like going home. Not camping out. There's a line between parking and trucking. I never crossed that line.
When you work for a regional that has you home every weekend. I"m going home. In spite of what boss's like to say. I DON'T LIVE IN THE DARN TRUCK. -
Honestly, i don't think i will ever miss this kind of BS .
....don't be afraid of the office boy at your home terminal , he's not going to hurt you half as bad as if you loose it with that 40 tons of equipment on icy roads , especially if you accidentally jack knife and end up choping off the heads of innocent people in their cars .
That's right !!! That trailor can chop off the roofs of those cars around you on the ice and guess what happens to you ?
Well you're gonna be doing some time in prison for involuntary man slaughter !!!
....still want to be bullied by some sissified office boy ?
With a good clean license you get a job anywhere. "SCREW EM "06driver Thanks this. -
I will private message you, and yeah to the last question

With you on that. Neither do I. But I will always maintain it is a drivers call if they drive or not.

You could go grab Super Dispatcher and put him in the truck next to you so he sees first hand how bad it is to drive on ice! Super dispatcher sounds like a young punk!!!
Tall Mike Thanks this. -
I tend towards the Supertrucker side of things in terms of my own comfort level taking on ice challenges, it goes with my job. That being said you are exactly correct, each driver has to make the decision for themselves.
THAT being said, every driver will eventually encounter icy conditions in a place that doesn't have good areas to park. You have to learn sometime. The worst time to learn is on a narrow two lane road with no shoulder in the middle of an ice storm. The best time to learn is in a wide open parking lot.
If you don't yet have the skill set to handle the conditions, then park it. But know that "parking it" might mean driving another hour to find a wide enough area to pull off the road.Gearjammin' Penguin and TripleSix Thank this.
