I knew a guy on the HOME DEPOT ACCT. IN BRASELTON GA. had a nephew die.The nephew was like a son to this guy,and he was very upset over the loss.
The dispatcher had told him to come on in empty, and not worry about his backhaul. He was relieved, and started driving back to braselton Ga..
About 2 hrs. in,dispatcher calls him back, and says he's gotta go back and get that backhaul. They could'nt find anyone to cover it,and it wasnt an option.
He refused, and came on back anyway to be with his family.
Monday morning he showed up early for his load, only to see his tractor going across the parking lot with an unknown driver at the wheel. When he went inside to get his paper work, good ol John gave him the news that he was no longer employed with SCHNEIDER.
My old dispatcher had told me before hand they were gunning for this guy,due to previous ruffling of feathers of one of the little boys that worked in the office.
The driver may have been due a fireing, but the timing sure was in poor taste.![]()

Team division of course...
Of course when I went solo with them my DBL figured it would be a good idea for me to run around with no license plate on the tractor for 2 weeks, including DOT hell week...Dominick253 Thanks this. -
when did you think it was a good idea to run
around without a front plate ? -
I didn't. I picked up the truck that way and they booked me on a hot load and told me I was legal without it...

@ snowman
Exactly the same one, has a Quiznos in it too. I know I went by there about 2 weeks ago and it was still open. I can't believe that Shell an Quiznos would allow there name to be advertised on such a dump. -
A few years ago I drove for a small company that was pretty decent. They got bought out by a larger outfit which I struggled through 2 years with before finally throwing in the towel. What the straw that broke the camels back was this: I was in PA and they gave me a pickup that delivered in The Bronx, NY at 0800. I called and told the 20 something girl that I couldn't make that because if I stopped in NJ my clock wouldn't start until 0600 could she please reschedule it for later in the morning." "Drive in tonight and sleep at the customer" was her bright idea. I flat refused and told her that without an Uzi I was not parking on the street in NYC overnight. "why can't you get it there, it's only 75 miles or so form where you will stop in NJ, you won't be late.". I told her that trying to drive into NYC at 0700 was next to impossible. She then proceeded to tell me "I guess you don't know how to drive a truck then". After my head almost exploded I laid down several words on her I won't repeat and when I got home handed the keys and comchek card in.

I had a dispatcher that just could not understand why I couldnt drive a fully loaded tractor and trailer from Jerome Idaho to Denver Colorado in 10 hours....Or to Los Angeles California for that matter....

Probably about the same time he thought he needed a job.
I'd do the same thing for a paycheck right up until a found a new one.
That sounds about like Schneider, for all of the good things about the company they sure do have some retarded management.
