Another way to fight this is to suspend license for a week if caught first time, then two, then month, just like drunk driving. A lot will think.

 

They already do that in some jurisdictions,as well as further sanctions (hefty fines,court summons,license suspension/revocation,etc.).

 

You see? It is not working, but when there is no data on the phone while driving.. yet, who will refuse court fees, fines, medical and funeral income?)

 

That hasn’t deterred some people to an extent. In my state we’ve had a “texting while driving” law for almost 12 YEARS (went into effect September 2010 to be exact). And yet people are still doing it.

 

Why? Because It Is Available!)

 

We also have an illegal wiretapping statute!
And an anti-stalking law!

 

People will abuse anything that brings pleasure when and while it is available. There is nothing, that can stop them from getting it while they can, unless it is out of order completely.

 

SADLY, In Our Growing Confounded & Irrational Society, Driving ANYTHING With A Useable Phone Will Continue.

BLOCK Access To Personal Phones, Unless Vehicle STOPPED.

WE WILL SEE/Read Reports Of Such NEGATIVE Incompetent Stupidities For Decades, as in:

Distracted Drivers Have Been Before Bag Phones & Cell Phones Were Created!!

 

This my friend is only the beginning.
This is the instrument panel of the new Cadillac Lyriq, to be introduced in the fall. Manufacturers are falling all over themselves making bigger and bigger electronic displays. ALL of them are beyond distracting.
Add the complacency of "assisted driving" features like staying between the lines without holding on the steering wheel, and allowing the sensor driven braking systems to stop the vehicle without human intervention, all being widely advertised by Subaru, Cadillac, most other makes. We have a real problem.

You think we have a lot of chain reaction accidents involving dozens or hundreds of vehicles now....
