I was gonna say take that refer unit off your trailer, and you'll see much improvement lol.

I've never had a problem with Home Depot DC's getting live unloaded.

They make you unhook and park, but always empty in about an hour.

    Never been to Lowe's DC.

Think I've been to every Home Depot and Lowe's store west of the Mississippi though, never a problem.

    Im sorry you had trouble.

I used to collect flatbed wood from railroad cars in Hagerstown Md specifically for Lowes and run into Lewes DE and a few others specifically. They all unloaded me in a hour.

Unfortunately that’s part of the business at times. You are at the Mercy of some minimum wage workers at times who don’t give a #### about you. It’s the same thing with local delivery and check ins at times.

All that may be true, and let's face it. It really is true in a lot of cases. It missed my point however.
There are a lot of jobs out there that do pay for one's time. By choosing to stay an o/o one chooses to work in that environment knowing it's "common practice" Even o/o could go lease on with a company that does pay for the time wasted. And of course there are a lot of companies that pay by the hour for example.
I'm not saying it's easy to change, or that it's not the best option to deal with it short term, but long term it's why too many drivers choose to donate their time.

No, it will never change until the drivers simply stop choosing to work for places that do not pay them for their time.

We'd rather choose not to go nasty places, if we have a choice. Sometimes, however, the only choice is to go there or not to go at all.
Paraphrasing, in the long run you cannot avoid being abused by such places. Just like you cannot avoid to be beaten up on the head, if you are a pro fighter - no matter how successful.

I was offloaded in a rural town of northern Minnesota. The choice was to go empty over 250 miles to Twin City for the unknown or get loaded 50 miles away going to a ####ty DC by the name of Kroger in Indiana that paid $2600, which in my opinion is a darn decent rate, given the circumstances. OF COURSE, I snatched the load and was all happy despite the fact of my well knowing that the receiver abuse is very likely over there.

Sure you can. The beautiful thing about a 5th wheel is that it works with all kinds of different trailers. My trailer gets me detention pay. If we remain on their property it starts two hours after our appointment time. If they send us off their property it starts at the time we leave their property and they pay until we’re called back and are empty.

But this thread is dedicated to those who go to DCs and there are always going to be those going to DCs. It would be like saying to someone - do open deck - everybody.

His original question was when will the abuse stop. My initial reply was it stops when you stop going back for more abuse. Everyone has their breaking point, and when they reach it then they will stop going back for the abuse. It really is that simple.
