just incase anyone is looking into putting hids on their volvos, seeing how the stock light bulbs are horrible.
on these trucks you can put headlights and fog lights but, when you turn them on 1 light wont work no matter what you try.
here is what you will need you will need 2 hid kits and A RELAY connect from one headlight then run it across the hood to the other headlight and connect the relay from one to other ballast, then just plug and play from there. you wont regret HIDS i have never owned a car or truck with out them, especially in the volvos
mine are 6000k, i wont ever get any higher or lower, the only other ones i would do are 3k 4k where they're yellow for the snow. mine look blue from far away but when you are watching the street from the cab its a pure white..
FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS or buy HID kits through me. just message me in the PRIVATE MESSAGES
ANOTHER VIEW THEY LOOK WHITE
also if you have a choice between 35w and 55w ballasts just do the 35w. 55w is asking to melt your housings

I could be wrong, but I thought some states outlawed these blueish type head lights?

Whether you already have HID Headlights installed to your vehicle, or you've been planning to add some to help you see better at night, you may be wondering if HID Headlights are against the law or not. You may of done some research and have seen articles about people being pulled over and ticketed for having HID Lights installed to their vehicle.
If you look on a box of HID Headlights, you may see something that says "DOT Approved." DOT stands for DepartmentofTransportation. If your bulbs claim to be DOT Approved, can you still get a ticket? DOT has never approved any aftermarket HID Headlights and really have no plans of approving them anytime soon. So if you get pulled over and show an Officer the box that says "DOT Approved" it probably won't get you out of a ticket.Last edited: Sep 16, 2012

I would say you are wrong because they are a stock OEM system on a majority of cars/trucks now.

anything over 1000k as far as that goes is asking for it it blinds the eyes 6000k is is almost stock on newer cars
-
this isnt something u will get pulled over for so im not worried, i dont fallow the law 100% anyway so no worries

Unless you have the real factory HID with cutoff projector housing, it will blind oncoming traffic.

PLZ do not use HID in fog lamps! PLEEESE!
Fog lamps have pattern to make truck visible in mist, so even with halogen it is a glare thing. You made this truck glare monster.
Yes, volvo use HID on Version-II trucks in EU, but in low beam projectors only and they have shield to prevent glare. For reflector lamps D2R bulbs are allowedl, they look like regular D2S bulb but with shields on bulb, and you can fit it in lamp, but do not use HID in reflector lamps, PLZ -
The Volvo does have projecors and i know how to adjust head lights i have a nice cut off line right at the back of most trunk of passengers vehicles, as far as the lower smaller cars that is a personal issue idc about.

BTW, in EU HID shield is different, becouse they have right sholder illumination. In USA pattern is symmetrical so if you fit HID in US projector no modification is necessary. In EU it would be illigal if you keep shield made for halogen.
High beam HIDs are illegal (exept of projectors with moving shield) becouse HID goes bright warming up in 20-45 sec.
For fog lamps use halogen only. HID in mist is not so effective as halogen, yellow light is much better.
