They overhead was originally required @ D service every 160,000, but has been changed to F service every 500,000. I just do it @ 200,000 with DPF cleaning. Here is procedure....

Sounds like they took a page out of the isx playbook... make interval so long that warranty is over . That way any issues spotted are customer paid

This is one of the tightest engines I have ever adjusted. In most cases the amount of adjustment is so minuscule I feel like I'm wasting my time. Linehaul application the recommended intervals are more than frequent enough as long as your doing you oil service on time and regular. For a pushtube engine the wear does appear to be minimal to nonexistent on the valvetrain. Peace of mind to go in and peak and tweak if you wish.

The MX doesn't seem to have valve protrusion issues like other engines. I set one today that he had around 275,000 miles which had intial valve adjustment @ 40,000. Couple were spot on, And I am very picky on my overhead set. I usual find intakes to be 0.001 -0.003 loose and exhaust just slightly looser. The hard parts of the MX are very solid.

I'm just curious on why the mx engine is the only pushrod engine of the modern group produced as far as I've been able to find? I am curious about how the old 855 Cummins compares, or the old CAT 3406 compares. I've done some research about pushrod engines and I guess they are easier to repair, and have less weight overall. Compared to overhead cams.

You can't get a feel for it if you never try it
