These 2 quotes:
You have to learn how to work the system and how to deal with the company to keep yourself in the best position to make money.
The term squeaky wheel gets the grease is what OTR trucking is about these days. Sitting back and thinking the loads will come to you just does not work.
Is what I have been hearing repeatedly after i got my cdl and started working for a company. You know what, it disgusts me. Where's the driver shortage as i was told of? I feel like i wasted my time getting my cdl -
Right now there's a freight shortage. Many companies are cutting back. You just chose the wrong time is all. Wait a few months, then blame Obama.

These are tough times for tough people huh. -
Some people on this website need to quit making excuses because they don't mind being treated like s@#! There is a big difference between whining and having a legitimate gripe, or reasonable expectations that you are being told the truth when dealing with your employer/soon to be employer. Seeing as how they are my winch bar. Calling the majority of people here with a reasonable gripe whiners doesnt do much to improve the image that the public has of truck drivers (fat, stupid, lazy, dirty WHINER) This is from Bill the driver/mover

Well I hate to brake the news to you but the image is not that far off base from what I saw and heard as a OTR driver for many years.. Now I did not sit there with a clicker or anything, but lets faces it, half the people I saw getting out of trucks at truck stops and at the customers property looked like they just spent a long time living under a bridge, not a truck.
It used to blow my mind when I would see a nice new large car pull up to the pumps and a guy that would make Charles Manson look like a Chip & Dales dancer would get out.
Seems to me that some drivers & companies could care less about "image".
Now I know its not PC to disparage my fellow drivers, but it was embarrassing what I witnessed on the road to say the least.
Scrumdog Thanks this. -
Rflmao,,,if you couldnt handle being a chef,,you better get a job in a library because i assure you, as a chef you got alot more respect then you'll ever get driving a truck, you dont even rate as a number, your a thing.at least as a chef your income was secure (if you were a good chef) you aint gonna like sitting 5 days with no money no bathroom getting messages on the qc with dispatch asking you..."what part of no dont you understand?" them telling you your idles to high and threatening your job because its -5 degrees and your wasting fuel by idling,,get another blanket,,i'd like to be parked next to you in a truckstop after you've been out here a few mths, better yet a few yrs because the new hires usually do ok because they work for lesss therefore get the miles, good luck man
