Do any of the schools or company trainers teach anything these days.

i used to beat drums off cars all the time. they get really cold in winter and have nowhere near the thickness truck drums have.

    never once broke one.

i have 100 pounds of salt, and brake cleaner i use for frozen brakes. i carry with me in the winter.

schools are only 2 weeks long. and the amount that they teach. is hard for some people to soak it all in. a lot of stuff is forgotten.

This may sound like a dumb question, i have lived in southern California for over 20 years and do not get where it is cold and wet. When I was back east years ago we used to chock the trucks and not set the brakes over the winter jr the trucks were shredded. but where do you wack the drums. With duels the inner rim covers the drum and you can either hit the back edge, or dust shield, or the front of the drum through the hand holds.

The last paragraph nails it.......experience does not equal a pro.....I've seen and known some guys that have 30 years behind them, and can't for the life of me understand how they are still alive..

Hell I still remember how to use a slide rule. For those who don't know what a slide rule is it is the non electronic calculator we use back when the USA landed a man on the moon. It is true companies out there want to run for less less less rather than increasing the rates, pay drivers less less less. Fact is drivers are far worse off than we were in the 70's. The government rather legislate us into non idle with laws against idling the trucks rather than legislation to force truck manufactures to actually put some insulation in the trucks to begin with. Ya I know that spray foam weighs so much, and would add a couple dollars to the cost of building the truck. Like so many other I am getting to the point where I am soon going to hang up the keys. The hubby Jim did that last year. He only goes out for a couple of our oil company clients on heavy haul loads when needed. Thought about trying for 50 but with the way the industry is going decided to retire early.
