After speaking with with a member here he tells me that his shop does annual egr valve and cooler cleaning for their trucks using a machine instead of removing the parts. I was wondering if any owner operators do this as well or just replace parts.
I hear the same thing from some others. I have never done it but my be something I will be doing with the new truck.
Have never done the trucks, but do the reefer egr's every 5-6K hours in a sonic cleaner. Would just have to get a larger one.
I'm referring to the ones you hook up while engine is idling and have a foam type of liquid go through the system. never seen the Diesel Force but going to check it out.
Diesel Force is a foam cleaner. They hook up to the egr and it goes through the whole system. An oil change and a forced regen are required after it's done. They're their own company, it's not from PP. I had it done once. IMO you're better off taking the parts off for cleaning and inspection.
I was going through sensors on a used truck I owned Only had 200k when I bought it KW in Ogden had it in and they flushed the egr and told me they have guys do it every year as PM and never have issues I had no issues after that I now do the same thing and so far, no issues but I’m in a newer truck I also use Pittsburgh Powers catalyst additive Might be snake oil but have friends that swear by it
"Do any owner operators do EGR cleaning service?" Some do, some don't, some "clean" it out of the system and no more "cleaning" needed.
