My general comments are not directed to you personally so try not to take it personally. If you believe all cops are altruistic you're part of the LEO problem so rampant today. I'm speaking from personal experience AND from having two LEOs in the family, one with the Sheriff's Department, the other a retired chief of a fairly large city in western Pa. If you tell me I'm wrong you're being less than honest with yourself and the members of this forum.

I remember the white sheets rumor from 25 yrs ago. it was supposed to be in case of an accident they can be used as wound dressings. lol.
just an old rumor, as far as I know. my fitted sheets are blue and never been a problem. -
I have been driving for 4 years now. I have never been randomly searched at all ever. But, the times my truck has been searched is by the Military before entering a Military base (I have done a lot of Military loads). And the other time was a few years ago, my co-driver was somewhat new to driving, I was in the sleeper asleep and somehow he managed to get us to the Canadian border....lmao Trust me when I say they wont just let you turn around...lol They got us out of the truck with guns pointed at us, we were searched and the truck was searched. They were not very kind in the search either. They messed up everything, dumped my wallet contents on the ground, etc. Then we were held in customs while the Canadians did background checks on us. They pulled up my "JUVENILE" criminal record and made me sign a "Voluntary Deportation". Likewise with the co-driver, he had a DUI from some 15 years ago, he had to sign the "Voluntary Deportation" also...lmao
Other than that, never been searched at scales or pulled over and searched. -

Well, when I headed off to sleep we were headed in the right direction...lol But when he woke me up yelling my name and we were at the Canada border he had told me he was "just following the gps"....
He had a PC Miller, we were traveling westbound on I-90 and headed towards Michigan. The PC Miller was taking the shortest route which was to pass over the north end of the great lake in between us. Well, to do that we would have had to cross into canada. So Basically all because a gps and a co-driver with no common sense....lol
Here is the kicker. After signing the "Voluntary Deportation" paper, I was told "My application to Canada has been denied"...lmao, really? That and I cannot return to the border for 10 years or I will be arrested...
Oh, and when the canadian border guy that searched my wallet saw a picture of my brother in-law in his US Marine formal uniform, he said exactly this "F****** monkey suite..." and whatever else he started mumbling talking down on the Marines... That made me lose all respect for all Canadians.. ALL of them...DriverToBroker Thanks this. -
While that officer's words weren't appropriate or warranted in any way, do you really feel it necessary to "loOse all respect for ALL Canadians" ? If you take that attitude towards everything and paint everyone with one brush you will quickly find yourself alone in a corner (if you haven't already). Did one dispatcher make you think ALL of them are a-holes? What about cops? One of them make you decide they are ALL scum of the earth? You get what you give, you know.

If a department KNOWS they have a cop with a bad reputation, yet they do nothing to stop that officers actions, then they are condoning it and find it acceptable.
And turning a blind eye to bad action is as bad as doing the actions in my book. ESPECIALLY when it comes to a public servant like a cop. With the power that they do posses. TOTALLY wrong.
Is it a broad picture? possibly. But guilt by association goes both ways. -
Not this 1 incident necessarily lead to my conclusion... I am sure there are some okay canadians but I have not met them yet. I have police officers that are great friends but we know there are some horrible bad cops. Disparchers always suck anyway....lmao just some I can handle. Anyway, I see your canadian and thats why you are so flustered from my post. -
Remeber if it is a consent search, you have the right to withdraw consent at any time (unless the diacover you have in fact broken the law). An officer should be close enough to you so that you can vocalize and be heard when and if consent is withdrawn. Failure to do this on an officers part is a big problem for him...
