Sadly it is an emphatic YES! trust no one, lock everything, be aware of your surroundings. They know if they don't get caught in the act they won't get caught because they will be 100's of miles down the road. Always fuel in the mornings, never fuel before parking. I heard recently a driver parked his truck for the weekend in his usual spot, a dirt lot. Thieves but blocks under the axles and then dug under his tires, the truck settled on the blocks and then they stole all the wheels and tires.
yes they do hubby went inside for a fuel receipt 22 yrs ago, someone jumped in and stole the tv and cb..THAT FAST.. we have also had someone steal fuel from us while parked in truck parking at a motel in CA once too.
Any and all types of theft are totally and completely wrong, as well as uncalled for. HOWEVER, the stealing of fuel has got to be one of the worst types of theft, along with being one the most insidious types of theft around.
Does Howdy Doody have wooden balls man? One time I fueled at the Pilot in Sturbridge MA but of course there was no parking at that crap hole. So I drove up the road to the wayside on I84. Woke up in the morning and next thing you know I'm looking at 1/2 tank of fuel when it was just filled. Obviously some scumbag siphined of 100 gallons or so while I was sleeping. Had a weird feeling overnight while I was half asleep at times that something didn't feel right. So yeah, these bums do #### like that. Thankfully it was Schneiders fuel and not mine.
At a T/A on the tollroad in Breezewood,Pa I was asleep in the middle of the day when I felt the truck moving and heard the door open and when I looked up a man was standing between the seats looking at me.. He jumped out n took off running.. Truck was locked..don't know how/where he got key?
Wonderful stories, I'll be keeping my doors lock. I also have a broom laying outside on the back of my sleeper. Surprise that's still there
From my understanding people who steal other trucks or stuff from other trucks are those that aren't actual truckers, even though they may hold a CDL or just know how to operate one. But, that's just my view. I leave my doors unlocked all the time and the only thing to go missing are toll tags and the small stuff that I don't really care about (that yes, the truck eats and will never be seen again haha). I have 'tried' to climb into the wrong truck (same company same color) to sometimes find another driver in the drivers seat. Talk about surprising another driver about to leave when their driver door suddenly swings open.... One time I got in someone elses truck and was wondering where all the extra crap suddenly came from...lol. But that's as far as my experience with truckers being in the wrong truck :0.
Had a company mechanic steal my cowboys boots. Said he found them in the trash. Was on extended hometime and was told truck wouldn't be touched. Mechanics proceeded to clear out my things thinking it was abandoned....Got them back though after raising hell with shop foreman. Mechanic still works there. I don't. Can't work for company that lets its own people steal from me.
