As somebody that has been down the " sorry were broke " road a few times I've learned the process of when it's time to bail .
1st they quit washing the trucks .
2nd they quit maintaining them .
3rd they quit fixing them .
4th the fuel cards quit working reliably.
And finally the pay checks bounce .
Falcon has done none of the above and took the high road because they know with GM gone the business isnt sustainable so why let it die a slow death .
Do Falcon drivers need our help?

Conflicting information. One dude say fuel card still working and got paid on time a few days ago. Another saying fuel cards have been shut off, hasn't been paid in 3 weeks and was told to leave the truck where it is.
If I were a company driver I think I'd be renting a car, cleaning my stuff out of the truck and heading home.
It would be nice if in a situation like this they would route everyone back to the home terminal but nice isn't always what happens. A good reminder to always have some cash available to get home.
Crappy situation.
Oliver Ford, a driver for the company says Falcon has shut off fuel cards. This means drivers who have been dispatched, and ran out of fuel, are not be able to drive back.
He says the company told drivers to leave their trucks where they are. He is stranded in Virginia.
Ford says the company is 3 weeks behind on pay.
Official: Falcon Transport Co. announces operations shut down Saturdaybzinger Thanks this. -
So. I'm going in to work about 9:30 tonight. Should I stop at the Speedway and knock on a Falcon's door to see what they say?
If it was the afternoon I would, just at that time it's starting to get late...bzinger Thanks this. -
And they would have never got three weeks behind on my pay. First paycheck missed and home I go.Feedman, 338-Dark-Knights, x1Heavy and 6 others Thank this. -
Now I know what some of you are thinking, “but Six, that driver may have a bad record and can’t just get a job anywhere.”
And waiting for the next pay period helps how? -
The drivers have just gotten screwed hard. It is now a race to soak up the best jobs in your home market before everyone else does. (As the market just became over saturated with drivers!).
If the fuel card still works use it...if not decide what’s more economical for you, personally buying fuel, air plane, rental car, Greyhound.
The time to make a decision is now. The company no longer has your back!
Oh by the way...if they filed bankruptcy, you prolly won’t see that last check. You definitely won’t see any unpaid sick/personal/vacation time. That is just plain common sense.
Oh yeah. If the drivers are boned, so is the office staff. Who do you think is going to hang around and trash your dac? Do you really think the office staff is gonna work for free just to rake a driver over the coals??? Yeah i didn’t think so.
After New Century closed up, it took a long time before any good jobs around here had any openings. Nature of the beast. -
It still blows my mind how people can not afford to get home from any point in the country. If you’re not making enough money to rent a car or buy one plane ticket you’re doing something wrong.

Lesson to new drivers...
If you're going to be out here, sometimes thousands of miles from home, be prepared. Always have a (real) credit card with at least $1000 available. Enterprise will bring you a car if you're within a couple miles of one of their offices. Rent a cheap econo-egg and go home.
"But... but... I have ####ty credit!"
Get a secured credit card that doesn't have an annual fee. Don't use it for anything but small things that you can pay off weekly, and getting home in an emergency.
Sign up for Credit Karma too. Learn how credit scores work and how to manage your money. Don't ever buy anything on a credit card that you don't have the cash to immediately pay off. If you pay even one dime of interest, you're doing it wrong.gentleroger, 338-Dark-Knights, ncmickey and 3 others Thank this. -
TripleSix Thanks this.

No, getting home to put in apps accomplishs nothing. The companies will know something's up simply by the amount of apps they got over the weekend.
Knowing this is literately the first company I've ever heard of that closed and actually kept the fuel card on and paid the current paychecks to the employees merits a one - two day wait.
