Do Flatbedders get paid to secure their loads? I.e. strapping and chaining? Hourly wage? Do you have to be on line 4 to get paid? CZ

Most Companies pay extra for load sercurment, and the Law says that anything to do with the Truck has to be Logged.
-
Flatbed pays more because of the extra work. Sometimes an extra 20 30 bucks for tarping
-
most times NOT.
and mileage pay which used to be higher. is now lower then reefer pay. depending on your location.
you strap for free. and if you're lucky. paid for tarping. and probably NOT for untarp. -
I get paid $30 for load & tarp pay per load. Basically an hr work for $30 every time. Works for me!

You get paid to haul the freight...and you cannot haul the freight until you secure the freight. In other words, it is part of the job...so yes, you get paid to secure the freight. Just because they don't specify $X for securing the load doesn't mean you aren't getting paid for it. It is why skateboards typically make at least 5-10 cents per mile more than dry box...more time & effort involved in every load.

I get paid per load and would rather strap, chain, tarp for free than sit and wait in line at a warehouse for 6 hours for free.
jimvrg Thanks this. -
the higher the tarp pay usually means less per mile

I get extra when i have to use chains to secure a load. since I pull an RGN that means I get a little extra every load.
