Actually, if you even flew to Oklahoma and were getting paid for it, you have to log it on duty, not driving.
Jus sayin -
Yes, technically you need to log it, based solely on being over your 12 hours for the day.

We have quite a few drivers that do drive away and then fly back off duty but before they can drive again they must take 10 hours off

Say's who. I do not log hometime activities, or small hps to a shipper, or receiver, or so forth. I do not log my shower, ####, shine, or piss time. I would not have any electronic devices in any of my trucks, and never will. So i can drive with a paper log in small hops, at any speed. Unlike those i have heard about the ELD and speed/distance and it logs it. #### on that

If your ELD malfunctions, you can run paper for up to 8 days.
If you pull this wire off over here,,,,
What do you know? Malfunction!
