When did they stop doing that? I know they used to.

 

They got into a little trouble with the Feds a couple years back. Something to do with illegals and questionable CDL's. A bunch of people who got CDL's there had to retest and everything. The problem was that they were not following the states residency requirements and so now you only get a TN CDL if you actually live in TN. Worked for me anyways, in IL if you want to transfer a CDL you have to retake all the tests so I'd rather have just got one from them anyways. Of course we would never have state officials selling CDL's in Illinois never, all our politicians are on the up and up.....

 

If you don't have money for rent, then you don't have money for rent. Not that tough of a decision. You can't squeeze blood out of a turnip. Each state has their own rental laws, but many take 30 days to evict you. Then if there is a lease you can and will be held liable for the balance. Moved out or not, you could still use that address for license purposes if you had to.
You still need to have a backup plan in case you don't make it through school. Then again, summer is the best time to be homeless. Good luck, you better make it!

I moved cross country one time. I put my stuff in storage and spent my off time in motels where and when I wanted to. You can live cheap like that and save up some money.

 

I have always been tired of having to change my address everytime I moved from one apartment to another when leases where up. So I just use my fathers address on my license and insurance that way I always get my stuff. I do not mind changing my address for everything else but to keep changing it for my license cost too much to keep doing it. If you do decide to get rid of your apartment, or even if not, use a family members address if they will let you.

 

Yes then you should not have an issue. You just need a place where you can get your license and stuff like that. Here in MN they will not forward license or government ids so You have to have the listed one where you can get mail, Thats why I use my fathers address. Good Luck at your schooling.

 

In IL they will hand you your CDL when you pass the test, no need to worry about it being mailed

ANOTHER MILLINGTON TN STUDENT RIPPED OFF CLASS #531 Millington Tennessee

I was a student at Swift Academy in Millington,TN I have been driving for three years since then and have had no issues until now. I attended class all the way from Waldorf, MD and now came home to find a letter from the DMV stating that the third party testing is not valid from MAY 05-JAN 08 Swift Transportation passed hundreds of students a week. That is a long time and a lot of pissed off students that were mislead. I have to be retested after three years I don't think so. How the hell am I going to get my carrier to give me a truck to take a CDL Road test after three years. And if you do they are going to investigate you I mean If you had a driver come to you and tell you that, what the hell would you think and with the way the freight is now with the economy they are just triyng to find a way to get rid of you anyway. I do not drive anymore but I still wanted to keep my CDL just in case. In my option Swift commited Business Fraud they make you sign a contract knowing that they have shady pratices. I am going to get a class action lawsuit against them for damages now I have to loose my cdl
All that time was for nothing. I want justice !!!!

Bobby, this is old news. You are right, hundreds were affected by this. Swift assisted the FBI with the investigation into the Millington school, which was run by a third party. I believe everything has already been settled, the school continues to operate under legal guidelines. Best of luck to you sir.
