KInd of lost me in all the tenses there...

The OPs problem is slipseating. Not the ideal situation to be dragging around and setting up a case CB each morning, and breaking down each evening. I would not do it.

I would be more concerned with a proper pre-trip and getting on with business!

Get a CB it can save you a big headache you can set it up were you can't hear all the lowlifes talking garbage, but if you have a flat or something is hanging off your trailer someone can warn you and save you a even bigger bill or ticket.:biggrin_255:

if your slip seating get a vice grip antenna mount and set your radio up mounted on a board to quick hook up to power or just plug into cig lighter......hand helds are handy for real short distance , but a regular radio paired with a good quality antenna with swr set 1 to 1.1 will give you hours of good service with no battery running out on you. Also this radio will save you alot of greif on the road , and as others have said , its nice to have someone to bs with on those dark lonely nights , keeps your butt awake and out of the ditch..... Lol

Yes, check e-Bay. I purchased mine from a trucker that retired. Mildly tweeked so its a good talker, no beeps or echos. I could not imagine not having one in my truck or personal vehicle. Yeah, there are trash talkers up the wahzoo, but they will keep ya entertained on those long boring overnight runs..

Your right. Some BS does get through. I had two guys going back in forth last night just calling each other a ########. I could hear more intellectual advanced arguments on a grade school playground.

My point is if the OP wants to keep costs down, he can get what he needs for a very low price. If you are really interested in using a CB for entertainment and extended conversations you need to pay more and get some good gear, but if that was the case for the OP he would not be posting in this tread in the first place.

It takes what 1 minute to hook up the ant and power... Heck I know drivers for UPS who slip seat every shift and they run big radios. they even make a box for drivers that has a cd play 2 speakers cb hole of your choice wired up so all you do is plug it into the cigar ligher and hook up your cb ant...I wont ever go with out a good cb even if I did slip seat. a good cb can be a life safer way to offten

a lot of shipper require you to have a CB. When you pull in the sign will say turn you Cb to channel such and such and wait for further instructions. I never had one that worked though and would just go up to there booth and tell them it was broke then they would ask for my phone number and would just call me instead. I would get one.Sometimes you get lost or need advice from other truckers in the area.

If you were headed northbound through Chicago today, and had a CB, you would had heard me telling you about closed expressways information due to the flooding, as I was heading south.
