Now I remember Wyoming has 80 mph speed limit (as well as Utah, Oregon etc). Texas 85 mph on that road...It’s been awhile since I went there. But my point was OP wants everyone to drive 80 to get on a middle or left lane. I am not going to drive in the right lane if I am doing the speed limit in 3 lane highway. Why impede highway exiting/entering traffic?

 

If someone #####es over the radio then I'm definitely not moving. I might actually go slower.

If 2 left lanes are turning into exits then I'm staying in the middle even if its 10miles away, because I'm not fighting to get back over. Had that happen before and didn't realize traffic was backed up 10miles before the exit and almost got into a fight trying to get 1 lane over.

If the speed limit is 55 and it's a high traffic area, I'm staying in the middle because #### dealing with people that can't merge. You shouldn't be trying to pass people going 70+ in a 55 anyway.

 

Lane 2 is good if I am doing 65 in a 65 zone.

If someone is doing 80, they can use the left lane to get around me.
Or the right lane if they are feeling NASCARish.

Like I said, it’s been awhile since I went there. I don’t remember where exactly but it was rural highway.

 

Was it 95? I've run that road and didn't see an 80 mph speed limit sign.
