You should just either take the advice you were given, by Chinatown, who gave ano answer of a company.

Or you could call the megas yourself, and get your own answer without having to argue about how your way is the right and illegal way. I hope you like the roads, and police, and firemen, and other things your non-taxes will be paying for.

I take people seriously, but I have to really wonder if you're a troll. You are suggesting that business expenses are depreciation, which is actually the decrease in value of an asset. You want to drive for a mega, which is amongst the lowest pay, yet you have a $1,500 an hour on retainer. And finally you indicate that you know enough and have good enough advise that you don't listen to the "youtube" crowd, yet you ask your loaded question at this forum.

But taking your question at face value, most mega carriers will not hire 1099 company drivers. They will however, hire said driver and put him or her in a lease purchase vehicle. Two upsides to the mega carrier. 1, transfer financial liability of ownership to the driver and 2, create a revenue stream by creating a lease payment that, based on odds, will have the truck paid for over and over again. If the 1099 arrangement is not like that, they have little incentive to do it. Flyby night outfits, like the white Volvo crowd in Chicago save on the employer share of FICA and Medicare and workers' comp. When they already shady, they don't worry about the liability this causes for them.

Referring to other members as "reta##ed crackheads" is a quick way to get banned from this forum. The administrators want to keep this a rated g forum, and they take their job seriously.

I did take Chinatowns advice... He suggested a company and had no other explanation related to my question. I love that guy. He is always the one to answer all newbie questions immediately, respectfully and to the point. :)

I just wanted to get some basic info here so I can know what to expect before speaking with a Mega. Next step will be to speak with them for sure. ;)

    Btw, another irrelevant reply :(

Seems like Mega's won't do it based on the responses I got from the experienced folks in here. Thank ya'all... love ya'all. :)

BTW, as much as I am against the arrangement, it is not, as some want to point out, illegal.

Thank you Mr. Bean. That was a great response. Thanks again! ;)

Referencing to your last paragraph, that gentlemen used a statement that no sane person would use for a stranger. I am a very polite and calm person in general and very respectful at the same time. But I do give people a taste of their own medicine if they act the way that gentlemen did in his last 2 lines. That was offensive to me. He got an appropriate response. No regrets.

Technically it is. If you're driving a company truck then you're a company employee, and under tax guidelines must be paid under a W-2.

Every carrier that has paid employees under a 1099 that should have been paying under a W-2 have received fines after audits.

No, what you are doing is asking us to validate an idea that you already had. You don't want advice, you want agreement.
If your idea isn't sound, nobody will agree with it. There's a message there for you if you care to take it.
You sound to me like the type of person who is always looking for the best way to further himself at the expense of others.
Having read your posts I wouldn't do business with you in any way, shape, or form.

    Lepton1 and crb Thank this.
