That was very well stated and I have nothing to add, other than the fact that a lost a friend and neighbor who sounds very much like your brother.
He was once prescribed disulfiram(Antabuse). Being hard headed, he of course tried to drink after taking one. After becoming ill, he simply threw out the pills and continued drinking.
His parents spent untold amounts of money on treatment centers and rehab programs to no avail. Anybody could see it was a waste of time and money but they still loved him and wanted more than anything to help.
The sad part was, he was an automotive genius. He could diagnose and repair anything mechanical or electrical. It was uncanny to see him work.
With nothing but a test light, he could navigate a maze of wiring and pinpoint the problem in minutes.
I've seen him rebuild a caruretor drunk with no instructions and it was perfect first time.
All that talent, but never could hold a job. Had a high paying technician job at a Nissan dealership once, but of course that was one of many he screwed up.
So I fully understand the anger and frustration you feel.
