have you been to Houston lately? Have you seen some of the junk thats based and plated out of here ? Pipe haulers, container haulers, dump trucks , those trucks would never be able to hit the road if TX was so trucker unfriendly.

I got arrested and taken to jail at that scale.. then extradited to houston to be released immediately for false report.. smh.. that was a trip!

That's why I drag mines, just install them far enough from the tires so that when you back up you won't tear them off.

Pics or no pics, when the officers give you a ticket, you are obliged to sign, period.
I was cited because the officer said he couldn't see my rear plate that my OD sign was covering.

I got a warning ticket years ago south of the Alamo on I35. Cop said my trailer mudflaps were "sailing in the wind". I pointed out that they were hard plastic and that it was a brand new trailer. Then he said it was on the tractor. Oh well, no point in arguing with him. He made a point to look at my windshield/dash. Was looking for a radar detector which was the real reason for pulling me over. That's the only time Tx cops ever messed with me and at the time, I lived there.

tell you what, i'll pick all your loads up in laredo and bring them up to at the Texas, arkansas, oklahoma or new mexico border. then take your empty and repeat 7 days a week. this state is so big you can get miles never leaving it. DPS/DOT here do suck, have to admit that. as for the sleeper seat belt, always toss my dog back in the sleeper when i get pulled in, tends to stop them from even looking back there.

Years ago, I got a warning in Ill. for a "swinging" license plate, and a warning for a dirty motor, claiming it could have a slight oil leak. Also, I heard DOT can give you a ticket for a messy bunk, bed not made. The sky's the limit.:biggrin_25513:

what does pics have to do with signing a ticket?????

all states requires you to sign. what you choose to do after is up to you.

next time i get a ticket for improper mudflap. i'm sending the citation in with trailers that have texas plates. and say "looks like i'm not the only one"

A girl I dated a while back was stopped for 20 in a 15 school zone and was also given a ticket for having a blocked license plate. It was the dealer license plate frame from Crawford Buick Pontiac GMC here in El Paso that they put on every car. The officer said it partially blocked "TEXAS" and therefore made it hard to determine what state the plate was from.

She took the driving school option for the speeding ticket but contested the plate ticket. She went to court with pics of the plate. The judge took a look at the pics, said "Are you kidding me? I don't think any officer could legitimately say they couldn't tell this is a Texas license tag, especially an officer from Texas. Case dismissed."

Not to mention checking that would require access inside the truck for a nice warrantless search for other "violations" laying about in plain sight.

OP: Was the bunk restraint missing? Or just stuffed under the mattress?

You sure this isn't confused with the 15'll get you 20 girlfriend story? :biggrin_25523:
