I've seen this for years on both straight dump trucks and end dump trailers. Some with top hinge doors, some with side hinge.
Why do only some trucks say this on the back?
"DO NOT PUSH".....?

Possibly driver with short fuse behind steering wheel.? Kinda like "don't touch me!!"
but no its that the tailgates just arent strong enough for that kind of force.. and its way easier to push them out of the way with your bucket then to find a chain to pull em.Suspect Zero, homeskillet and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
I want to get a shirt that says that
homeskillet and tucker Thank this. -
The box is sitting on a very delicate frame protected by two large nuts to pivot on. They are protected somewhat by a Cylideral Piston system backed by it's own pump, tank and fluid system.
The lift gate could either be a swing type hung up top by two bolts or a side opentype with a hinge on one end and a latch on other end.
Generally these places might have a water truck but not a materials cleaning truck unless it is spocally needed device; You spill it, you shovel it. Powdered lead might come into a problem but we will cross that bridge we we get to it. (That is one item Ive always been afraid of. It theoretically can kill you pretty hard what with the pains and all)
Dump trucks generally do not have airride systppenson so its pretty solid under there enough to whistle up a DOZER, Whicher or front end loader or even a motor grader to show up help you a smidgen. It don't take much. Even a tracked shovel can do it with a finesse you wont believe.
Ive used my front end loader (CAT 936) model with is a relatively medium to smaller model with about a 7 yard bucket. (Manual says 6 yards, but those yankees in york did not measure southern measurements lolz) and you could get anything stuck. Used to have a competition to get a kids toy car moving out of gravel with it undamaged. (Although people still argue over my solution, about a half scoop of water and poured it towards the thing from about 10 feet. Scatters the rocks well enough without drowning model.88 Alpha Thanks this. -
if anyone ever got stuck in the garbage (and many did), they had to be PULLED out by the garbage dump heavy equipment.
damage to the rear dump door or hopper body can be severe.x1Heavy, Suspect Zero and homeskillet Thank this. -
I’ve seen “do not hump “ on railroad cars ......
x1Heavy, Roberts450, buddyd157 and 1 other person Thank this. -

It means the car has to be shoved under power to a stop; you can't just shove it over the hump (hill) in the yard, then cut it loose and gravity drop it.
You might have already known that......Sorry.RockinChair, 88 Alpha and nikmirbre Thank this.
