A company will get away with what you allow them to get away with.

You're the captain of the ship....act like it. Protect your CDL. It's not a game, but companies will still try to entice you to play.

According to the USDOT's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Knight had 11,460 inspections of vehicles last year. they had a 60.4% unsafe driving violation record. You could say that it was all the driver's fault, but since 54.6% were vehicle maintenance violations, only 5.8% was due to the driver himself. So you can safely claim to have a dumb*** tax on your corporation of about 6%, but you're also showing a corporate don't give a #### percentage of about 55%. You don't like it, take it up with the Feds. They might tell you that you just have a bad attitude, and put you on an FBI watch list.:biggrin_25525:

But with those vehicle maintenance issues, how many were for simple things like lights not working, and other things that are part of the driver's daily vehicle inspection?

well i looked up the unsafe driver stats and it shows that the biggest problem was drivers with seatbelt and speeding violations.

That seems to be a theme with some of the outfits my hubby and I looked up on some companies. Those are completely avoidable violations too.

these type of drivers will either change their bad habits or they will be out of work before long because of too many points to where no one will hire them.

And if every driver did their part, did the inspections and got their TRAILERS repaired, instead of just "leaving them for the next guy," it would make a huge difference. But the biggest problem with that, is that trying to get their shops to actually WORK on something in a timely manner is flat out impossible.

Nobody wants to waste their time waiting around for the prima-donnas in the shop to get off their back sides and actually do a little work.

Now I will say that the SLC shop was an exception to this. Don't know what it is like now, but when I worked there, the guy who ran that shop would bust his butt for you, if you were decent to him.

Well I think the best way to fix the problem with drivers leaving it for the next person is to dock $$ from the driver who dropped trl. For example dropping trls with bald tires, major air leaks such as busted air bags. When things are in need of repair that are very obvious then fine the driver, that will get there attention.

Another good reason to pull the same trailer all the time.........

Drop and hook sounds nice, but there are disadvantages......
