I don't know if I'd call that critical thinking. That's basic knowledge if you ask me. I'll be devil's advocate in this regard: we all foul up and make mistakes. People don't become skeptical until an experience gives them a reason to be. These companies can make everything sound good, but the discernment don't come til a driver gets experience. Everyone has to take lumps some kind of way.

I DO see your point, and I'm not saying I've never effed up in this industry, because I HAVE, and got fired twice and permitted to resign once.

I started trucking in 1995, and even back then, there were a couple companies notorious for talking you into a lease purchase, then starving you out, repo'd your truck, repainted it to make it look good, then leased it to the next sucker in line. I'd mention the company, but last time I did, my post got deleted.

Still, IMO, anyone who takes a Chicago 1099 job or a lease purchase had better educate themselves. That is, get some "basic knowledge."

TLDR: I agree with your statement, bryan, I just see it from a slightly different angle.
