You can run straights but it is worth useing exhaust wrap on the 1st 2 or 3 feet of exhaust pipe directly after the turbo, to keep the exhaust gases hot which will improve overall performance and economy.
Don2WS Thanks this. -
Ohh Yes it is
i love the way the jakes bark

Thanks for your help it was probably bad fuel. I refilled in Hutchins Tx loves i had 10575 on the odometer went through all 69 and filled up in Joplin i used 66 gallons and my odometer reading in Joplin was 11028 so i traveled 453 miles with 66 gallons that gave me 6.86 WOW i am impressed i smiled so hard when the calculator showed me those numbers. I must say that the trailer was basically empty 2300 lbs but i really hope i get good mileage. Mr haney told me boost levels should drop because im moving more air through engine and it doesn't have to work as hard pushing exhaust out the stacks. the truck is morre responsive and the heavy smoke is gone oil temperature were usually at 180 and this trip they remained at 150 Im gonna need to test truck with a heavier load and see the real results

I wnet for a full exhaust on my 99FLD to a 6" straight and gained .5mpg
I run a dedicated lane from Chicago to Corpus Christi and back. I calculated this at the pump for a 2 month interval..... plus it sounded great!Don2WS Thanks this. -
what set up you got ? i have a t800 aerocab with roof fairing c15 mbn with 13 speed and 370's. Im gonna get it tuned by Mr Haney and hopefully inframe this summer i have a million ten thousand with original water pump and turbo and thats nice i just love the way straight sound

I was running a 99 FLD120 flat-top with a 235" frame and a 36" sleeper. 3.90 rears, 10spd and set my cruise at 60mph.... I pull empty trailers for 2,700 miles a week. I was getting 8.0mpg before putting on the 6" bull stack, then It went up to 8.5mpg for the 2 mos I calculated it before winter hit.
I just bought a 387 this week to replace the old girl. It has a 3.36 and 13spd so hopefully it will go up even more now

did you have a kitty under the fld's hood ? and yeah 3.36 and 13 speed should give good results does that pete have an acert

The FLD was a 430hp Detroit..... the new truck is an ACERT C13 but I have already removed the resonator and put PDI high-flow mufflers on it (yes, before I even hit the road LOL) and I have a shop in Shreveport that is going to tune it for me next thursday on my way back.
