    An accident that happened earlier this year in May;

    Today;

    The Cobles want the United States to adopt the same laws that are in place in Europe and many other countries that require onboard computers in trucks to track their speed and location through a GPS system.
    “This has dramatically cut down on truck deaths in other countries,” Chris Coble said. “I want to ask lawmakers and everyone else, ‘How come we can’t have that same policy in this country?’ We’re woefully behind.”

    The KW Express driver had two speeding violations before this accident, where he is accused of slamming into the minivan under the speed limit in the first article, then an estimated 70 miles an hour in the latest article, killing three children.

    I honestly believe that if the tracking systems worked as most people think they must, they would have been adopted by now. The information is already available by other means and that introducing these 'facts' into the system with other facts by other means will tie up lots of agency time in court

    My company uses Peoplenet to track the trucks, I have seen reports showing 73 MPH trucks running a steady 77 mph. It must have been a long downhill(ten hours), I have read reports showing me 40 miles from where I was actually parked in another state for 3 hours longer than I was actually there.These things aren't the panacea promised by the hype.
