    Hello,

I'm doing a research project for school and I'm trying to find out if truckers would have a demand for a padlock that opens quickly (1 second) without a key/combination. Do you use padlocks? If you do, how often do you need to access it?

I always use a padlock to lock the trailer doors, I can't have my Mexicans escaping

Lots of companies use use Abloy 330/342s because security of the load is worth the price and "inconvenience". Not to mention the regular key types are fairly easy to pick.

Nothing on my trailer leaves a shipper without at least a seal door lock on it .
If it's going to a not so nice area the uprite lock goes on .

I still have mine somewhere. I oiled it last year. Big brass thing with a alloy ring.

It stays on the trailer all the time unless used to knot crazy people wanting in for cash money.

As I have seen in Jersey City, anyone can saw through the side wall in a few moments large enough to get a man in even faster today with the tools on battery. The lock is useless.

We're required to have locks on our trailers at all times as a matter of company policy and for the practical aspect that we haul food products and some shippers demand this policy. In our case, it may be accessed once or twice a week at unload and load. I'm in a small fleet. They prefer us to use the universal keyed "company lock" so another driver won't have an issue if the prior driver forgets to remove it at a load swap but this has inherent problems, too.

Fedex Freight apparently requires them too. Their drivers always put them on but never lock them.

That'd be something like a remote control
