I been saying this for years..This is one industry that needs to be looked into..Especially in the pay department..I know, i know especially yopu ones that are form the South and are complety nutty..I'm a communist or socialist ?? I am a registered Reagan Republican.. We need better pay, we need to get away from the word " LifeStyle" ..And we need to demand better equipment, better benefits and pay as well..and the only way is too
expose the books on werner, schneider, hunt, swift and the rest of these cheap ########..I like the hourly wage if possible?? I want more for what i do..Its dangerous , boring and i have no social life..its time for wealth distribution!!!!

The last thing we need in this industry is MORE government intervention. The better pay comes from picking the companies that offer better pay. It also comes from having the experience that one has, their driving record, etc.

Hate break it to you, but it is a 'lifestyle' since it is unlike any other career out there.

LMAO claiming it is time for wealth distribution and also claiming to be a Republican? How did you pass the DOT physical while smoking crack?

You want better money you get your experience, once you have proved you're able to live this lifestyle then you can look for a better career point. It is none of your business what a public or private company has on the books, as long as they are paying you the amount you are told.

If you do not like the pay go somewhere else.

However I disagree with the entire "lifestyle" bs. It is a job, nothing more or less.

We are not the only industry away from home consistently. We are not the only federally regulated industry. We are not the only industry exempt from federal hour and wage laws.

That being said this is not a job for everybody. Neither is milking cows, roofing, sewer management, fishing, Police Officers, Firemen, teachers................

You put a REAL driver in another career see how long they are content with it. I've worked corrections, warehousing, assembly, handyman, and computer tech. None of these careers are ones I enjoy because of the lack of freedom in them. Trucking is a job, it is also a lifestyle, that is why so many wash out that come into it thinking it is easy money.

Just cuz big companies are paying rookies rookie wages, doesn't mean they are paying the experienced the same low wages. I'm a prime example ...

I can't go back to driving, but if I could, I'd do it in a heartbeat! I'm still involved in the industry because you just can't get it out of your blood!:biggrin_2559::biggrin_25525:
