Rest areas as often as possible. Too many bad things happen at the truck stops

It depends. If its a truck stoo where I can nose in to get some good sleep and get some rest. Some rest areas are ok, while others suck-like in Kansas right next to freeway so you can hear traffic all night long. Rest areas in Oregon I5 have too many beggars "family of 4 needs help, son has cancer, et etc"
I prefer customer parking, somewhere where its quiet and nobody's running their reefer or idling all night long.

I really like a shower, and sit down food. Let my dog run his energy out. Certain truck stops fit that. Service and quality is more important than reward points to me. I got my other shower spots of course and my emergency hidey holes. Rest stops ramps etc are last ditch choices

    Erm I rather not.

There ARE a couple spots I save just for me. One example is a bluff above the river on US 322 prior to US 15 near duncannon as the crow flies, there should be a gravel pad big enough for a few trucks. Or one rest area southbound after flagstaff. (That one is closed.) the pine trees have a way of clearing the sinuses. And so on. There is a little pull off between Armarillo and Dumas you can get into if you aint got stamina to make Kit Carson and it's wonderful little stop.

The meaning of truckstops are being swept away. And buried. A friend and me stood at the site of the built Costco on which the 76 stood in Maryland off 70 at around 54mm. I told him that's that I guess, there taint nothing here for us and I sure aint shopping inside THAT store...

Felt a little homeless at that point with the semi. What to pick as a new home stop? Not Jessup. I found a little spot called Spangler's Spring north of G'Burg that is a tiny amish eating place and fuel stop with about a half hour's run that subsituted a bit for a while but it's taint the same. They eventually closed that one too. Except the fuel side.

I like to campout at shippers and receivers when I can. I try to only use truck stops in afternoons for shower.

That brings up one receiver I camped out at. This guy was so nice, he had a little place behind his building. Only I was allowed back there, it was quiet, no traffic, I had a place to walk my dog and play with her, and they would bring me snacks and drinks for free. They treated me like a king. I had a marble bathroom to use all to my own. NOBODY treats truck drivers like that!
