I believe they are still flying passenger service out of Martha's Vineyard, unless they recently retired them and there's one or two still flying commercially in Alaska. You just can't kill those old birds! Buffalo Air in the NWT is still flying them, commercially.
Do you feel elogs should be mandatory or optional?

Don't bet on that. There are so few, still doing interstate commerce, it is very possible to relegate them to intrastate only status.
-
You expected more from an internet forum than a truckstop lunch counter?Meltom and DrtyDiesel Thank this.
-
So how soon are you going to intrastate? Or are you buying a new truck to oblige the new world of trucking? Like I stated unless they give out grants or they finance us owner ops so we can buy a new truck with low payments I don't see how they could force everybody to go into debt.
-
Most likely will be given a window. Either buy a new truck or get out all together by xx date.

yes
this is not just foaming at the mouth, but a chance to develop thoughts and ideas and run them pass your colleagues and see what works and what doesnt work -
Funny how you say "freight hauling" and "people hauling" are so different in aviation....you know which HOS rules the passenger carriers get to operate under? The OLD rules! No 14 hour clock...they have 15 hours, and that ONLY counts "on duty" time. They don't need a 10 hour break...8 hours is sufficient. Only downside is they only have 10 hours of drive time instead of 11. Somehow when the "new" HOS regulations were passed, the commercial buses got to keep the old rules. So if those old rules were so "unsafe" that they needed to be changed, WHY did they leave them in place for passenger vehicles? They are the ones carrying the irreplaceable cargo...everything else is just "stuff".Roadmedic, volvodriver01 and DrtyDiesel Thank this.

i am assuming that is true
if it is true, and we have these fellow drivers pushing these HOS as if they are gospel, that is nothing but another example of how are our own worse enemy? -
Part 121 or 135? I.E. Scheduled or on demand? There is a huge difference in regs between the two. I'm aware of a few operations that use DC3's for part 135 on demand stuff. But I'd be shocked if anyone could use one of those birds for part 121 ops and make a profit on it.
