My wife banned me from driving her car.:biggrin_25522: Been so long since I put gas in the car or my pick-up that when we were out last weekend I splashed gas on the side of her car. Was topping it off and trying to max the tank. I am used to the cap on top of the tanks not the side. What she did not see is that I grabbed the diesel nozzle and it would not fit in the neck.:biggrin_2554: I can put a big truck anywhere, but a car I can't seem to get it to do what I want!:biggrin_25522:

I don't, but I keep trying to figure out why it is I can back up a 53' trailer in a straight line for over 100 yards, but the little trash trailer goes into the yard in a perfect "s" formation??? Definately not straight.....

That's because the smaller trailer reacts faster. If you keep pulling little trailers you WILL learn control in a hurry.

I find myself lifting my foot off the accelerator, wondering "where's the jake?"

Aww hell, you both got me laughing!!!

The funny thing is, I was riding in an acquantances Dodge p/u (with the cummmins diesel), and he was having fun with the JAKE he had installed ('cause he pulls a gooseneck in the summer). Now if I had the moolah I would get one of those trucks and have a jake put on just to Piss off the neighbors!

I have a c/c 4x4 dually with a 5spd all mini "chickened" out including the inside so I find myself, especially at night doing some goofy crap...Trying to hit the passengers window switch on the dash or to set the brakes, floating the shifts, trying to super10 split the shifts, reaching up to adjust radio volume etc etc.Since I've been off for a bit it's not as bad but I thought it was just me.whew! Thank goodness it's not.

After I retired, I got bored and took a part time job driving a straight truck. When backing into a dock, I was always turning the wheel the wrong way and I had a very hard time getting it straight when bumping the dock. I never had that problem with a 53' trailer.

The truck had a 5 speed manual tranny and I would double clutch even though it wasn't necessary. I would also rev up the rpm's when downshifting and that wasn't necessary either.

For several months after I retired, I would jam my left foot into the floorboard reaching for the clutch that wasn't there in my auto tranny pick up.

Old habits are hard to break.
