While I was on the road the other day, I woke up to the bunk heater changing speeds. It kept winding up and slowing down, not putting out too much hot air. I ran the truck the rest of the night, since it was only ~4AM and I was planning on getting up at 6AM. I got to the customer, tried the bunkheater again. It'd wind up and slow down, then quit after a while. While I was folding my steel tarps (far too frozen to roll), I remembered my mistake. I had came from Oklahoma and filled somewhere without the fuel additive before driving north of the twin cities. I put the full bottle in less than half tanks and it started working again with a little tinkering. Apparently the fuel gelled up, I'm lucky the bunk heater alerted me to it.

That's what happened when mine broke. Never even thought about it until a couple days later.

If your bunk heater is out put the emergency gladhand upto the exhaust port and blow it into the exhaust tube. After a few attempts it "should" ignight, if not try it a few more times.

Tried that several times and has never worked for me...maybe I do it wrong idk but not worried bout it anymore as the cold days are over till fall and by then I'm pretty sure it will be someone elses problem.

gotta do it when it clicks and blows out raw diesel. Do it for about 3-4 second bursts and you should hear a gurgle/torch sound. If not the Diesel screen is clogged. I wish i knew how to tell you how to clean it.

When I had my Freightliner I followed the instructions from maint and it didn't work for me in the past. So I turned the heater off and tried it when it wasn't on. That finally worked. Just my two cents...
