Dude i think that would be cool!
Do you think maybe we can get an airline company to do the same thing i always want to fly a plane??? By the way i'm not kidding i would love to fly a plane!
Then of course i'd have to pilot a big boat just to say i've been there and done that.
Do you guys really hate us?

I've loved train's sense I was a baby. I've been a model train hobbyist #### near all my life mostly in HO scale (1:87:1). I have had shear luck when I was younger in getting to ride a pair of SW1500's for KCS well more than once on a local job known as "job 6" pulling empty gondola's out of a siding and sliding in a set of rock loaded gondola's for a major concrete/construction company. I would be able to hear them coming and the track was close enough to get to pretty quik so I would make it there just about the same time they would almost on a daily basis. Became real good friend's with the crew. The've shown me a lot of the do's and dont's while making or breaking cut's of car's and throwing switch stand's.
As a truck driver I have nothing againest train's and those who work with them. They are serving the same purpose we are. Only difference is, they can haul in high bulk as to where we can't and save fuel doing so but a truck also has to be there to get those item's to the dock for stocking because they can't install a railroad siding at every single place to deliever good's so we pretty much both serve a good purpose. Other wise only one of us would have already done be canceled out a long time ago. Some truck part's come by train just like some train part's come by truck. Make's sense to me. -
Man I wish someone would let us drive a steam engine with a real fireman and all. U.P. has a exhibition steam crew but its in Nebraska I think. And its a dedicated crew who will NEVER EVER leave that job till they retire. They just clean, fix and drive the steam engines kinda like gettin paid to fix up a hot rod car in your garage!

A good job is a blessing more now than ever,a wise person should keep it if they have one.

Hey Eng1- Whats the best way to apply for U.P.? I have tried for BNSF, didn't work to good. No slots open... Any help would be nice...

I do not hate you. I admire you for the work you do and all the stuff you pull. I find interesting what you do and would be glad to ride on one.

U.P. and BNSF are not hiring train crew and when they do they have to go through the furloughed workers first.
But its my undertsanding CSX and NS are hiring alot of conductors right now!!! Note: You MUST be a conductor before going to Engineer school.
All the class 1's are similiar in all aspects(SAME UNION) just BNSF seems to clean there engines the best..lol Apply to CSX and the NS and when you get to the written test and interview, I can tell you what to say. They look for one thing particulary. -
Sometimes I just wish those #### trains could dim their lights. Can't see anything with those lights shining at me.

Trains are great I just wish the Government would make the rules fair many road rules ive trains the highest authority even over counties and cities. they block roads here what seems like hrs but really is 30 minutes"I timed them" with cars and trucks backup for miles and the guys just move like they have all day to put on a car. Trains are cool and we need them, SO " Can't we all just get along"

I just got called back to work for CSX. I was furloughed 12/29/08, conductor position in Detroit. Now I have to decide if I want to go back.
