Whatever. You think an e-log is going to help if a driver rear ends a 4 wheeler that brake checks? In the absence of a witness, only a dash cam will help.

Would an e-log help you when you rear ended that truck that pulled off the shoulder in front of you?

Some people just like to argue and when they're beat, they change the topic.

You don't have a point. If you did you would make it instead of just posting argumentative ####.

So you also saw the truck on the side of the road, yet continued to maintain speed so the Crete driver would have to "cut you off"? Who is creating the mini drama?

I'm in an ungoverned truck. I don't care if I'm overtaking a Prime truck, I'll signal with my lights well in advance to let him over. Another benefit is my momentum is slowed a lot less if I leave room for that slower truck to get over and back.

As a driver with both a driver-facing and road-facing camera, I'll say that I don't care about the camera for a few reasons. I don't do anything I'm not supposed to on the clock. No Facebook/texting while driving, no smoking while driving (I drive a gas tanker), no unauthorized passengers. Now; The state will always assume the CDL holder is at fault. Dude could jump out in front of you and kill himself on your watch, and you will get the point on your record for not pulling over an offering him suicide counseling. The road-facing camera has saved a number of my coworkers from false allegations, which would have cost them fines, penalties, license revocations. We had an insurance company call up my boss demanding a six figure settlement. They didn't know we had a dash camera. We said, oh really, we have the dash camera video and your client is a liar. Our guy didn't, in fact, kill the entire minivan full of passengers, and his future was saved because of it.

Also, only a very small percentage of the footage (probably less than 1%) gets watched by management. Our guys only watch the camera if an incident is *detected* and they don't monitor us remotely; they also don't audio record us. So the camera isn't that bad when you think about it.
