More important is the piece of paper. The sticker is small and I don't think they will often look out the window to see it. Long time ago, there was a wrinkled grandma inspecting me at Evanston, WY Port of Entry, who took effort and without asking me started to scratch off the old stickers from my truck, saying that by law I can only display one.She did it like it was her own truck. I did not own it either, so I did not stop her. Well, 14 years later, I always scratch the old ones, leaving only current one.
P.S.
Morale of the story is; please remove old IFTA stickers before the old Grandma sees it and come out at you with a utility knife.Last edited: Apr 8, 2018
Brickwall Thanks this. -
I drove a brand new truck from New Mexico to California last year. IFTA was paid and I had the paperwork showing it as paid but no sticker yet, but the port of entry in Arizona pulled me in and said the temporary paperwork didn't mean squat without the sticker. So I had to pay about $80 for their state permit before I could leave.

I can’t believe this is a real question. You have to the end of February every year to put the current stickers on. The scales, and rovers do notice this. That’s why they are a different color every year, so it’s easy to catch. And that paper HAS to be in the truck. I received a violation for that in the company truck a few years back (on an otherwise clean level 1) because the stupid fat secretary lady that keeps the truck books up to date didn’t think the current papers had to be in there.

What’s a IFTA sticker? I don’t have one. Never had one. Maybe cause I’m strictly Cali only.
J\K..... I know what they are, I’m just exempt.deathB4decaf Thanks this. -
If you are going state to state you need it. Iowa you do not need it if you stay in the state. IA, MN, and WI have a thing that let county plate go in each of the states for so many miles before you need IFTA or State plates.

I was in my base state, and they still give you a ticket for not having it.

Some states are different when it come to this stuff like I said above. Another thing about Iowa is you need to Iowa Authority to operate in Iowa if it is your home state. You don't need federal authority to operate here if you stay in the state but just a DOT number. So as long as you don't leave the state you play by Iowa rules which are the same as federal.
This does open the part about not needing IFTA (only if you buy fuel in home state) or state plates for going so many miles in to two of the bordering. I does not say anything about federal authority thou. So I have it for that but not IFTA or state plates. -
