I can see that, so many of us were taught never hang a guy out in the left lane. This will start a barrage of other comments but if the one merging and the one that moved over both had a CB on it would be easy to pick up the mic and say go on hand I will slide in behind you

That isn't something I was specifically taught, but rather a matter of common courtesy I picked up along the way.

Of course, common courtesy isn't very common anymore...:biggrin_25513:

No, people hate truckers because they pull out to pass when they only have 1/2 mph advantage over the truck they are trying to pass, blocking the highway for miles as traffic stacks up behind them. People hate truckers because they are reckless with their "my blinker ENTITLES me to the lane YOU are currently occupying" attitude, often times doing so to pull out into the passing lane to go around that 1/2 mph slower truck even though MUCH faster traffic was making its way through. People hate truckers because whenever they deal with them in person, they smell worse than a decomposing corpse. People hate truckers because anywhere and everywhere they park gets littered with trash, pee jugs, and "other" disgusting things. People hate truckers because they are crude, rude, foul mouthed, immature bullies on the road, and quite frankly disgusting examples of the human race. There is no excuse to pull into a truck stop (or any other business) and relieve yourself in the parking lot when a bathroom is only a few steps away. Hell, the bum begging for scraps on the street corner smells better, dresses nicer, and has better manners than far too many truckers I've encountered. Maybe it IS just a small number of "bad apples", but those are the ones who get noticed. 1000 guys doing it right are quickly forgotten when 1 person screws up. Don't be that guy.

The guy who drives slow to save fuel, reduce stress, etc...but kicks it up a notch when the need arises to pass quickly has my respect. If you weren't always running up against the governor on your POS company truck, you could do likewise. Try it sometime...set your cruise 2-3 mph below the governed speed. If you catch somebody, now you can pass them. As an added benefit, if you ever happen to blow a tire, you have pedal left to keep your truck under control. You'll be a safer driver as a result.

If you don't have the pedal to GET out of other people's way, STAY out of other people's way!

Well just today a 4 wheeler caused me to stiff a fellow big truck... im in the granny of a 2 lane, got the 4 wheel freight train to my left, driver coming out of a rest area, well the car in front of me, who had him by miles, so much so that i would have cleared him comfortably before he made the lane... decided to slow down, well i cant go no where so i slow up, big truck sees this, but now due to the poor timing he is gonna be sie by side with both of us. He backed it down, (thank you whoever you are) the car gased it, so did i as i already had more momentum. Luckily the driver to my 6 bumped over... felt bad but i mean come on!

...And I'm not particularly thrilled about those who dismiss all trucks driven by company guys as a "POS".

Not all of us are "that" guy.

This is true if you can't get around someone in a reasonable amount of time without inconveniencing someone else, stay to the right.

I like reading his posts, all company drivers are bad, all hours of service rules are bad, drive 90 or stay in the right lane.
I'm on elogs, but I am against them being the law, but it will be fun to watch as to how it affects some drivers.
