How's the price on food and other goods up there?
Have a friend that works for a company out of Dallas that builds fracking trailers. He went up for a couple of days and flew home. Stayed in one of the "man camps." He doesn't have a CDL was thinking of getting it again. Said some places you can work 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. The companies will fly you home.
do you want to go to work in the ND oil feilds

I was wondering what kind of pay they had in the Texas oil patch. All that cold has me shaking! Never have chained up. -

cost of everything is high, in the patch sometimes for grocery and stuff you can park at a fuel station or what not and walk into one of the small towns and buy stuff from there grocery stores for less, but best to stock up on your way to work. if you can get into Minot stuff is cheaper there as far as grocery and food. some of the little mom and pop restaurants in the small towns are reasonable anything in willistion is expensive. at the truck stop in stanley you walk out of there spending 30 bucks on a roll of paper towels a bag of chips a hot dog and a pop (that's a little exaggerated but not by much)

I got a GOOD clue for anyone planning to do this kind of work in my area, get a couple forestry maps of local forests, I ran a hotshot load last night up to a whole cluster of forestry roads in sproul state Forrest and having that map would've saved me a boat load of time!

i actually saw that accident i was heading from Lambert mt to Stanley nd and came up on them clearing the accident site up. hopfully it was fresh water not produced water, if fresh no big deal on the spill but if produced water they will have to do a costly clean up involving removing at least a foot of contaminated soil.
i thought when i saw it that maybe the truck had gotten hung up and they some how ripped the tanker in two trying to get it free. tanker didn't look like it had been hit from the side, almost looked like it was sawed in half.
incidents like this are one of meany that are caused by people that should not even have a cdl but are working out here. and also part of the reason for me starting this thread so people have a idea of what there in for good/bad before they come out here. i would love to see more good drivers out here and less of people like this. i mean you don't need a GED to know to look for a train before crossing the tracks.HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this. -
