Brickman's right. Everything we consume in the U.S. was brought somewhere by a truck. Truckers don't get the respect they deserve. In the documentary I'm working on ('Alligator on the Zipper'), one of the female truckers talks about how truckers deserve respect, like soldiers. Solidiers protect the country, and truckers provide for it.
Documentary on Truckers.

Although truckers understand "Alligator on the zipper" as your title. Those not in the know may not think the movie is something "respectable". You may want to rethink it. Just a thought.
-
YOU have mentioned this documentary in 3 of your posts. One post being edited.
Do you have anything else to offer our website other then this fact? -
When I was at Truck Driving School they played us the trailer for this movie. I will say that the name caught my attention but the trailer didn't make me want to run out and watch it.

Not because I'm busy patting myself on the back because this country couldn't get by without me (yes, that was a bit of a poke at the way you guys want people to respect you more.....). There's simply a shortage of books and movies about what we do for a living and that makes it that muchmore fun when you do come across something. I'd be thrilled to be able to share stories and experiences with someone whose intention was to bring them to a wider audience, giving them a sliver of insight into our lives. Every customer whose house I step into (I'm a household goods mover) has endless questions about trucking. They're always waaaay more interested in things like "how much fuel does it take and what's it cost to fill up...." than "when will my stuff be there and how will my final bill be tallied."

Ok pick me, I'll be the star of your movie!!

I would like to see a movie or documentary that gives truckers the credit they deserve.....not a "pat on the back" but the credit they (truckers)....because if it were not for the "truckers" no freight would move anywhere in the USA or Canada....Appreciate the fact that we (truckers) risk OUR lives to move this freight...
Give us the thanks that we have earned.....

I agree, but we always seem to be a dumping ground for whatever the gripe may be, traffic, pollution, whatever,, people in cars hate us and I have had people be aggressive just because it is a truck,, any how I am fairly Young 38 and in good shape, I am clean, shower stop every day and am James Bond Handsom

i just got off the road after 8 long mo. and have alot to say , i would like to help u. its a good cause. i got caught up in the romance of trucking but reality is another world!

The camera person should have to ride with a trucker for 2 to 4 weeks and in the documentary have a day counter on the screen so that the folks that do not know how it is begin to get a sense of how long a driver can be away from home/family.
