I am glad some of you guys are willing to sacrifice your own safety and that of others - all the while helping your company get away with illegal running...

    -

keep in mind that in some areas if you get caught running scales - you can be held for a misdemeanor -
and in some cases fined (the driver) up to a dollar per pound over.

You got it. If you're running a co truck, by all means stop and get weighed. Let them pay that fine too. Maybe they'll start catching on and run you co. guys lighter and safer.

and as the owner you should be more rersponsible for the safety of yourself and others on the road..

trucks have weight limits for a reason - and guys running thousands over cut their breaking distance down...

a truck with an 80 K gross stops in 590 feet (average) from 60 mph.
a truck with 90 k gross stops in 730 feet (average from 60 mph.

kinda lke the steelhauler who rearended my brother in 1995 with a gross weight of 94,000 + and was on a "backroad" to get around the Richmond Indiana scale...

the truck came over a rise and there my bro sat at a redlight -

he did not have a chance - and the driver (he drove for malone) is still in jail.

one of the factors that put him away extra time was that he had been caught several times on US 40 trying to get around scales with intentional overweight loads.

    think about it -

and be responsible - this is not a game out here. and it is not cool to try and "get one over" on the DOT...

people pay and die for crap like that.

Back in my scale deturing day you had better be safe and know how to handle a rig If you cant handle an overloaded truck then you shouldnt be in one at all.Just because a truck is overloaded doesnt mean it illegal. You can buy permits from the state but the permit doesnt mean you have to go though the scales.

Thanks for the SAFETY meeting! I didn't understand all of that until now. Please don't assume the way I drive. I don't bi!ch when I when I get pinched. It's been about 6 years. I won't ask you pay my fine or ask for legal advise how to fight it. I'm not going to change. There is an art to what I do. Most guys don't have it in them.

yah you can buy permits - for equipment set up for extra weight via extra axles / brake configurations.

but you cant buy a permit to get that malone driver out of jail

and you cant buy a permit to get my brother back.
