I was just curious as I never see much information on this company.I know they run quite a bit in the U.S. and was just wondering about their schooling, pay, etc.Was also wondering if they hired many Americans as I saw from their web site they do hire immigrants from other countries.Any info or overview from you guys up north would be great.Stay safe friends.
Does anyone have any info on Big Freight Systems?

Wow!Well I guess after a week of this post being up and an easy 120 views, Big Freight Inc. isn't much to write home about.lol.

BigT;; Big Freight is from Stenbach,mb. They are a Canadian carrier that has been around for a long time. Good people, One of their drivers just won driver of the year. He has been with them over 30 years with no accidents. They do hire immigrants but I doubt that would include Americans.

I worked there in 2007 - 2008 and actually emigrated from England with them. I found them good in many ways and not so good in others.
They issued you with your own truck, straps, chains and every piece of equipment you were ever likely to need which you signed for and when I was home I parked my tractor in my yard at home which they didn't seem to mind.
On the down side, the trucks were basic specification KW T800's with awful automated transmissions and restricted to 60mph.
The work was very interesting and varied flatdeck and I went everywhere from Vancouver Island in the west to Newfoundland Island in the east, Thompson Mb in the north and south as far as Texas.
On the downside, some of the types of work involved a lot of loading / unloading at the expense of actually getting any miles.
For example, one of my favourite types of trip was setting off from Steinbach yard with a whole load of ATV's or sleds to drop off at various dealers in another province of Canada which was easy and interesting work but the first dealer might start around 9.00am and some closed around 6.00pm so if there was a couple of hundred miles from one to another it could easily take 2 or 3 days to get your deliverys done.
All in all it was an OK kind of a job and I would have stayed longer but I got offered a job hauling a reefer with more money for a really good small company where I still work now.The Big T Thanks this. -
I worked for BFS in 2008 / 2009. I was promised I would be going all over Canada and I would hit every state in the US. Well.... I saw alot of SK and QC. As far as the US, I got to see alot of MI, IL, WI, MN, ND, and SD. Nothing further south. On the upside, they let me take my truck home after each trip, and I lived 175 k away from the yard. Home time was good as well.

See a lot of new TRACTORS in their new style of paint scheme

Seen one of their trucks with trailer on Saturday parked in the driveway of what I'm guessing is the driver's house north of Aulac N.B. on the way to the Confederation Bridge. So they must do some work out on the east coast. Don't know as though they hire anyone from the U.S. but I remember Big Freight from back when they were a division of Trans-Canada Truck Lines and part of the Reimer group.

Big Freight Systems Inc. has always been a corporate entity and therefore could not have legally been a "division" of anyone else.
They started in 1948 out of Steinbach, Manitoba and are still headquarted there.
They started as a company known as "South East Freight" using Chevrolet and Ford gas pot trucks with open boxes on them.
