Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude or anything. It just most of the questions on the car hauling forum are from drivers who have no experience as car haulers. I assume that by enclosed carriers your talking about hauling the exotic and expense stuff. If that's true then check with Reliable, Horseless Carriage and I think there's a few more like them. It's a lot more detail oriented but they do get paid very well.
Does anyone have Information on United Road Car Haulers?

I would love to get with Reliable or Horseless Carriage... I have heard mixed reviews about United Road... Mainly positive from the drivers I have seen at rest stops or some of my normal route stops

Nice pictures too

Hoping someone can help me with a few questions regarding United Road...
My husband was offered a company position with United Road & says it's not for him. I'd hate for him to turn down this opportunity because from what I can "see," it'd only benefit our family. I don't think it sounds like a bad gig. You never know what to believe from a recruiter, so hopefully you can provide some insight. He does have prior experience with Allied, but would have to go through training again for a refresher. UR claims that their company drivers earn upwards of 80k/year, plus benefits like BCBS insurance. The only complaint my husband could tell me was that they expect him to be "out" for 2 weeks at a time, and therefore he'd never be home. He's an O/O now, and obviously enjoys the luxury of choosing his schedule, and is usually only gone 4-5 days at a time. So I think that's his big turn-off.. being told that he'd have to be out 2 weeks. Probably because we have a 5yr old & another baby due in a few short weeks.
Those that know anything about United Road - how true is that you'd have to be out that long? How much home-time is available?
Any positive/negative thoughts about United Road as a company driver? Worth a shot?
Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated!! -
I haven't driven as a c/o for urs but I ran as o?o and talked to alot of their drivers, most in the terminal I hauled out of were home at least 1 or 2 times a week for an overnight, a few made around 60 to 70k i the prior year, however it is go go go untill you run out your 70 hours and then you stop home for 34 hours and do it again, and none of the drivers I talked to have hit 80k in the last few years.
Also my trainer/mentor told me that it will be 1 year before i make a livable wage and 2 years before I consistantly make good money. In the terminal I dealt with the manager did not care what hours you worked as long as the truck turned a profit. -
United road is a good company but the rates the pay could be alot better. They broker loads to me all the time.

Like any market there are fantastic companies and bad. URS or U. s. Road Support is one of the greatest automated suppliers in the marketplace. They are middle of the way in my perspective. I have a few friends who execute for them and they have advised me they are not the best but are ok. I was advised that they are paid by the range. Industry traditional is a quantity, usually around 25% of the complete for an experienced car hauler so I found that unusual but I know of a few other companies that do the same aspect. The only problem with the really big companies, in my perspective, is that you are more of a wide range than anything else.
